Train Car Cigar Bar (Big Springs Texas)

Building power lines has taken me to Big Spring, Texas, again. During the six-hour drive, clips rolled through my mind. With each flashback, there was only one place that was at the center: The Train Car Cigar Bar.

Walking toward the stairs to order my drink, I dazed off into the leaves of the tree that has grown so much in the past years. Removing the glass from my lips as I stepped into the lounge, a file opened that I had not thought of in forever.

Looking back at the glass doors, I quickly kicked my flip-flops off, stood on the black leather chair, and started opening the cigar boxes that lined the edge where the ceiling meets the wall.

In the first section, I found a glass blue star. Grasping it sent chills down my spine, as I was not the only one to leave an item to resemble a memory. Putting it back in its box, I then stepped down to move to the next chair.

Looking back at the entrance, I double-checked to make sure the coast was still clear. In the next box, I felt it, rolled tight and tucked away. A place hit home as I unrolled the dollar bill. A pure form of happiness shimmered across my body as I read the signature I stamped in 2020.

Holding the crisp paper in my hand made me realize how a place so far from home created so many home-felt memories. When your time crosses paths through Big Spring, Texas, check out the Train Car, where it is more than a cigar and a drink. It is a spot to place a cherished memory in a box.
