One More Dance in Temple
Finally getting to wash the day’s work off my ass. I put on the new pair of wranglers I just purchased from Boot Barn, and as all my other jeans I cut a slit about an inch long on the inside ankle cusp.
Leaving Los’s air bnb I was heading over to Jims, Randy and Tehos. His truck was in the driveway as his plans have now changed. As Jim was pouring us a shot from a half empty bottle, I knew the night was going to be enjoyable. Especially as Los kept saying after every shot, “I’m fighting someone tonight.”
No your not Los. Me and Jim would reply.
Our journey began at the Parlour Lounge here in Temple Tx. I fell in love with the relaxing scenery, the books, pictures, pool tables, and a cool spinning nicknack that reads your future with the statements stamped on it. The vibe was to die for a perfect positive environment with great people baring pure smiles. A woman came up to me and Los and asked if we were there for the Meet. Looking at her, we said. “We could be. What is the Meet?” She replied with a smile and walked away. Makes me wonder what it is.
After we got our drinks. Me a vodka tonic with a shot of cranberry them two got an old fashion. Then, like always, the pool was on. Jim played the man at the table; I don’t remember what his name was. Jim won against him and me because we both accidentally knocked the eight-ball in. I don’t recall who won between Jim and Los, but Jim probably got him. Our buddy Randy showed finally and as we waited to order our drinks Teho called saying he was ready. After picking him up we ventured to the next destination Bos Barn and Dance Hall also here in Temple Tx.
I love the smile that stretches across my face when I walk through that door frame as I know I’m about to dance holes in the balls of my socks. Totally worth the laugh and enjoyment it brings, not just for me but everyone who spun out on that dance floor. Its hard to keep track of how many women I ask to dance, I never remember how many say yes, but the hardest to reframe is their names. Its weird, now as I’m writing this, Addison and her dimples were my second dance last night. She was reserving a chair for someone and after dancing with her a man was sitting in that spot. Later, we crossed paths as she was leaving. Maybe I will get a chance at another dance sometime.
Jim set near the pool tables ready to demolish the burger he ordered. Me and Teho continued to dance as much as we could. What got me sweaty was the line dancing but is it enjoyable. Randy sat at the perimeter of the floor watching the flow of rhythm eager to learn, and I think Los could have been outside or playing pool. Not wanting the night to end someone came up with the grand idea to take it to Playa Azule, and you guessed it, Its in Temple.
By now I’m feeling more than lovely, it was a little uncontrolled happiness that kept me energized with the excitement of what could come next. Entering I ordered the first bucket of beer, not being picky, I believe I ordered Ultras. I believe. Teho already on the dance floor, I had some catching up to do. Placing my drink down I looked at the women to my left, she made eye contact so I asked her to dance. Now we were spinning each other in a circle, the next I know we were sitting outside talking with people as we ordered tacos. All in all, everything ended up being a great time with some of the people I spend almost every day with.
